September marked not only the beginning of another great yearly calendar for the Pittsburgh Chapter, but the official “start of business” for your new chapter board. We had our usual transition in officers and directors back in July, and held a couple of summer fun meetings, but starting in September we rolled up our sleeves and again got down to chapter business. RonnaLeah Prindible, CSI - PRESIDENT
As our former Specigram editor, Ronna drove the evolution of our e-newsletter at www.csipittsburgh.org. Ronna, Regional Editorial Operations Manager for the McGraw-Hill Companies, has been a valuable chapter contributor since ’98, both in her level of effort and in raising our standard of achievement.

David Miller, CSI – 1st VICE PRESIDENT
David is the Architectural Sales Manager for AVT, Inc. and has been a member of CSI since 1999. As our Programs Chair for the last four years, he has worked to broaden our exposure to other professional organizations. David is also a past Director and designs the postcards sent out to announce chapter events.

Todd DuBrock, CSI, CDT – 2nd VICE PRESIDENT
Todd, Area Manager for PPG Architectural Finishes, joined CSI in 1998. The chapter’s former Webmaster, Todd spearheaded the re-invention of our web presence and continues to devote considerable energy, insight and resources to chapter activities.

Dennis Buirge, RA, CSI, CCS, CCCA - SECRETARY
Denny has been a chapter member – and incredible fount of knowledge – for over twenty years. An architect and award-winning specifier, Denny is Vice-President of Apostolou Associates. He has been the Chapter Secretary for many years, and was our first CCCA certified member.

Gail Nagie, CSI, CDT - TREASURER
Although Gail did not join CSI until 1990, her involvement goes back to the early
1970’s when as a spouse, she served on the Committee for the Tri-Regional Conference. Later she chaired the Spouses Committee for the MAR Conference in 1985, served on the Chapter 25-Year Anniversary Committee, as program presenter for LOS, Chapter Product Show Coordinator for 10 years and as a proctor for certification exams.

DIRECTORS:

Michael Bosco, RA, CSI, CCS, NCARB
Mike is a Specification Writer for Astorino. As chapter chair for certification since 2001, he has gradually raised the bar for the chapter’s training and certifying under the CSI banner.

Sandra Hundley, RA, FCSI, CCS
Sandy is an architect in private practice. A 23-year member and a Fellow in the Institute, she is also a chapter Past President, and has been enormously active in at the region and institute levels of CSI.

Deborah Merges, CSI
As the chapter’s former Hospitality Chair, Deb has for years seen to chapter events of consistent quality, at a cost affordable to members, and in a welcoming environment. Deb is Architectural Representative for Best Tile Distributors.

George Merges, RA, CSI, NCARB
One of our Chapter’s sage mainstays, George is a 28-year member, twice Past President and former member of the Institute Jury of Fellows. George was the Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Region Conference in 2005. George is an architect in private practice.

Phil Dorenkott, CSI
A chapter member for more than ten years, Phil, Architectural Service Representative for USG Building Systems, is gradually advancing the profile and effectiveness of the chapter as former chair of our Publicity Committee.

Robert Bailey, CSI, CCS, AIA
Our current Communications chair, Bob over the years has been active in nearly every facet of service in our chapter, from newsletter to awards to programs and others. Bob is an architect and Director of Technical Resources for IKM Incorporated.

J Scott Dorfield, CSI, CDT, AIA
Scott is Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Manager for Astorino. One of the newest chapter members currently on the board, Scott already has served as Director and Chair of the Technical committee for over three years, and has now taken over Education.

ADVISORS:

Scott Keener, CSI, CCS, AIA
An architect and specifier with Eckles Architecture, Scott is a long-time proponent of chapter alliances with other industry and professional groups. A member since 1994, he will push to grow the chapter’s membership, influence and reputation.

Jerry Churray, PE, CSI, CDT
Jerry is a licensed engineer and Regional Manager for L&M Construction Chemicals. A CSI member since 1998, Jerry served as Chapter Treasurer for several years, advancing an excellent standard for professionalism, before becoming Chapter President in 2000 and doing the same at that position.

Marty Thornton, CSI, CCS, RA
CSI Pittsburgh’s Immediate Past President, Marty is Specifications Department Manager for Foreman Group. Marty joined CSI in 1986, came to the Pittsburgh chapter in 1991 and is an indefatigable contributor for the chapter and Mid Atlantic Region.

In addition to a very active board, the Pittsburgh Chapter enjoys excellent volunteer participation in several standing committees.
